Solar
Solar battery storage gives Tucson homeowners more control over the electricity their panels produce. Instead of sending every unused kilowatt-hour back to the grid, a properly sized battery can store solar energy for use after sunset, during high-use periods, or when the grid goes down.

Why Add Battery Storage
Solar panels produce the most electricity when the sun is strong, but household demand often continues into the evening. Home solar battery storage saves a portion of that daytime production so you can use more of your own energy later.
System Sizing
The right size depends on the loads you want to support and how long you want them to run. Capacity in kilowatt-hours affects runtime, and power output in kilowatts affects how many loads the battery can operate at the same time.
Equipment and Compatibility
Saguaro Solar, Electric, and Roofing installs quality lithium-ion systems with a long lifespan, deep depth of discharge, and scalable capacity. Battery storage can pair with a new solar installation or be added to many existing systems, depending on the inverter, electrical service, and available panel capacity.
How It Works
We discuss why you want storage, review your energy use, and identify the essential loads and backup goals behind the project.
We inspect the solar equipment, inverter, main service panel, installation area, and wiring route, and check whether an electrical panel upgrade or load-control equipment is needed.
We size the battery around your loads and runtime goals, then handle the permits, inspections, and utility interconnection approval the project requires.
Our in-house crew installs and commissions the system, tests outage behavior where practical, and walks you through the monitoring app, reserve settings, and operating modes.
Your Trusted Battery Storage Partner
Solar panels with battery storage are changing how Tucson homeowners manage energy. By pairing panels with a home battery, you capture excess solar energy during the day and store it for use at night or during a power outage.
Saguaro Solar, Electric, and Roofing is Pearl Certified for home energy performance and can help you cut your electricity costs, reduce your reliance on the grid, and keep your home running even when the grid is down. Battery storage does not automatically take a home off-grid or eliminate every electric bill. Performance and savings vary with system size, household loads, weather, utility rules, export credits, and battery configuration. Every system we install is backed by a 25-year system warranty.

FAQ
Solar panels generate direct-current electricity, and an inverter converts it into power the home can use. When production is greater than current household demand, compatible controls can send some of the excess energy to a solar storage battery rather than exporting all of it to the grid. The battery discharges later, such as after sunset, during a higher-cost utility period, or during an outage.
Yes, that’s often possible. We first check the inverter, electrical panel, available space, equipment condition, monitoring platform, and utility requirements. Some solar panel battery storage systems can be added with limited changes. Others may need a new inverter, gateway, critical-load panel, or electrical upgrade.
It may be possible, but it depends on battery capacity, output, and the home’s loads. Central air conditioning, electric heat, water heaters, pool pumps, and EV chargers can require substantial power. Whole-house backup may be possible, but the battery must supply enough instantaneous output to start and run the connected equipment, and some homes need multiple batteries, controlled circuits, or equipment that temporarily sheds large loads.
Runtime depends on usable battery capacity, the loads operating at the same time, the reserve setting, and whether solar can recharge the system. During an extended outage, many homeowners postpone laundry and EV charging and reserve stored power for refrigeration, communication, medical needs, and nighttime use. Solar may recharge a compatible battery during daylight, but recharge speed varies with weather, array size, and household demand.
Ordinary grid-tied solar shuts down during an outage for safety. Solar panels can continue serving the home and recharging a battery only when the system includes approved equipment that isolates it from the utility grid and supports backup operation.
Some batteries can charge from the grid and provide backup without solar. The design, utility rules, operating savings, and incentive treatment may differ. Pairing solar panels and battery storage allows the home to store on-site generation and may provide daylight recharging during an extended outage when the equipment supports it.
Battery equipment has manufacturer operating-temperature and installation requirements. Location, shade, clearances, ventilation, direct sun exposure, and equipment specifications matter in Tucson. We place equipment according to the approved design and manufacturer requirements rather than assuming any battery can go anywhere.
Many Tucson homeowners invest $8,000 to $15,000 for a complete battery backup solution. Cost varies with usable capacity, power output, battery quantity, backup scope, inverter compatibility, electrical work, permits, and installation conditions. One battery costs less than an expandable multi-battery system, and critical-load backup costs less than broader whole-home coverage. A useful proposal should explain the equipment included, what the battery is designed to power, and the expected runtime under stated assumptions.
The federal solar energy tax credit has expired, but Arizona continues to offer state-level support for qualifying solar energy devices. This includes an individual income-tax credit equal to 25% of eligible costs, up to $1,000, claimed with Arizona Form 310. Arizona also exempts solar equipment and installation from state sales tax, and installed solar energy equipment is exempt from property-tax assessment.
Battery storage installation may be a good fit for your Tucson home if you value outage protection, want to use more of your own solar energy, or need to manage peak-period grid use. The decision should reflect your rate plan, backup priorities, energy consumption, equipment compatibility, and budget.
